DiasporaINVEST Point is a business service aimed at promoting and assisting Tanzanians living in diaspora to come and invest in Tanzania.

Newly available data show that officially recorded remittance flows to developing countries reached USD 338 billion in 2008 which is more than 50% of FDI, higher than the previous estimate of USD 328 billion.

What does DiasporaINVEST Point do?

• We provide a platform for sharing information within a reciprocal context. This means Tanzanians living abroad can have access to information they want from their home countries, and people from home can get more information from Tanzanians in their living countries abroad.
• We manage investments of Tanzanians living in diaspora on their behalf.
• We assist Tanzanians living abroad to start and run businesses in Tanzania
• We facilitate joint venture arrangements between Tanzanians at home and Tanzanians abroad.

How do we do it?

• Tanzanians living abroad can contact us directly and submit their request, and we work on the request in an arrangement that shall be agreed.
• We plan to start a club called ‘Nyumbani Club’ which is aimed at bringing together Tanzanians who are back home and those abroad for networking and as a way to share experiences from those who are back home and doing something. This club is also meant to be a point of start once someone arrives home.
• Share investment opportunities available in Tanzania with Tanzanians in diaspora
• To act as an agent of Tanzanians in diaspora if they want to establish anything back home
• Posting information and reports about Tanzania to Tanzanians abroad on regular basis.
• Work together with the Tanzania Government and other actors who are involved in issues of Tanzanians in diaspora.
• Working together with Diaspora organizations
• Match-making and referral services

Our approach

• We do not receive any funds from the potential investor/business owner who wants to invest in Tanzania; we do the facilitation and management.
• In case of investment management, we are not a hedge /investment fund but rather investment experts who assist the potential investor in the areas of feasibility study, investment information, business linkages, and if employed by the investor, we work on their behalf on the day to day running of the business through contract management.
• Projects/businesses may be operated under joint venture arrangement by linking the interesting parties.
• We are currently working on projects worth not more than USD 100,000.00.
